We do not accept the Common Application Arts Supplement.  Due to the volume of applications and supporting materials we receive each year, we cannot accept portfolio materials that are not required as part of the application process. Students who have electronic portfolios (websites, YouTube channels, etc.) may provide our office with a link to this kind of resource.

The application fee is $70. There are two ways to receive a fee waiver:

• Students who received an SAT or ACT fee waiver may forward a copy of this to our office;
• Guidance counselors may request, via letter written on school letterhead, that Syracuse University waive the application fee because it presents a financial hardship to the student and his or her family.

If Syracuse University is your first choice, you should seriously consider applying through the Early Decision option. As an Early Decision candidate, if admitted to your first choice college you agree to enroll at Syracuse University. No, we do not require SAT Subject Tests. Students need to submit either the SAT or ACT test scores. If you opt to take only the ACT, you must also complete the optional Writing Test.

No, the Admissions Committee will consider the highest score you have achieved on either the SAT or ACT.

Yes, each individual college at SU evaluates AP,IB, and college credits. For a list of AP and IB scores required for credit, refer to Undergraduate Course Catalog, Academic Rules and Regulations.  Click on the link for "II. Records" and refer to tables B and D in section 7.5.

Applicants to Syracuse University present a variety of academic and extracurricular credentials. Therefore, it's virtually impossible for us to use a set formula to determine who we admit each year. The Admissions Committee will review your application individually, taking into account your academic credentials, as well as your unique personal qualities. For students entering the University in the fall semester of 2010, the average GPA was 3.6 and the middle 50 percent of SAT scores ranged from 1610-1870.

Yes. Syracuse University uses the Common Application exclusively.  We encourage students to apply electronically.  Both the Common Application and Syracuse University Supplement can be completed and submitted online through the Common Application web site.

No, interviews are not required of applicants. However, this face-to-face meeting with an admissions representative is an ideal way to further personalize your application. Interested students may request a personal interview on campus during the summer or fall or in selected cities across the country in the fall.

Yes, students can pursue a second bachelor's degree in a program of study not similar to the previous degree received. Students interested in earning a second bachelor's degree should contact the Office of Admissions at orange@syr.edu.

Yes, SU's University College (UC) offers part-time students opportunities to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees. Learn more about about part-time study by visiting University College.

We do offer some online courses that are open to matriculated and non-matriculated students for credit at Syracuse and other universities.  We do not, however, have undergraduate degree programs that may be completed online. We will consider applications from students who have earned their GED. Students with their GED must submit an official high school transcript for the grades completed, along with official SAT or ACT scores.

If you are accepted to your first-choice college at SU under the Early Decision plan, you must respond with a postmark no later than February 15 or your admission will be withdrawn.

Yes. Incoming, first-year students may attend SummerStart, a six-week academic program that operates during the second summer session. Summerstart will ease your transition to Syracuse University and allow you to earn credit toward your degree. Learn more about SummerStart.

We do offer Early Admission for secondary school juniors who have completed all but a few secondary school course requirements for graduation. Students are admitted directly to the University without a secondary school diploma. It is the responsibility of students to meet requirements to obtain a diploma from their secondary school at the end of their first year at SU. Early Admission candidates should contact the Office of Admissions for more information and to set up a personal interview. Secondary school juniors who will finish all of their graduation requirements early should apply under the Regular Decision Plan.
