Tell Us More About You!
We'd be happy to keep you up-to-date with information relative to your interests, admissions events, and reminders of important deadlines. We just need to know more about you!
The Department of Public Safety operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The 24-hour emergency phone number, 711, provides direct access to the Department of Public Safety from any campus phone. Crimes may be reported anonymously and confidentially by dialing 443-TIPS (8477) or by clicking on "Silent Witness" on the department's web site.
Crime prevention programs are available to students, faculty, and staff. "Don't Walk Alone" is a walking escort service available on Main Campus seven days a week during the academic year. The Blue Light Emergency Phone System - strategically located throughout Main and South campuses - places the caller in rapid, direct contact with the Department of Public Safety Communication Center. Residence halls are secured with an I.D. card access system. The department provides security at the main entrance in all residence halls on the Main Campus from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. during the academic year.
Shuttle U Home (SU Home) is the Department of Public Safety's free shuttle service, which transports students from Sims Hall to their east neighborhood, off-campus residences. SU Home runs daily from 8:15 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. during the academic year. Additionally, the Centro bus system offers shuttle bus service at several locations on Main and South campuses.
It is Syracuse University's policy to provide all prospective students, upon request, with a printed copy of the University's policies and procedures regarding campus security and safety, as well as crime rates and statistics for the most recent three-year period. Copies of Your Safety and Security at Syracuse University, a handbook that provides this important information, are available at publicsafety.syr.edu.
