In October 2012, Syracuse University Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor announced that she will conclude her tenure when her current contract ends in June 2014. In November 2012, we announced the formation of a search committee to select the next individual to lead our University. In January 2013, the full membership of the Chancellor Search Committee was announced. Its composition and the process by which this distinguished and inclusive group was selected may be found here. As the Search Committee commences its work, we encourage every member of the Syracuse University community to participate and provide input on the academic, professional, and personal credentials and qualities you believe are important for our next Chancellor. There are many ways for your voice to be heard – from open informational meetings, an online survey, and directly via email at chansrch@syr.edu. With the outstanding search committee we have in place and the open process inviting the best thinking of SU’s broad constituencies, we are confident that the candidates ultimately presented to the Board of Trustees for consideration will enable SU to attract a leader of the caliber befitting this remarkable university community. Sincerely, Judge Joanne F. Alper ’72 Richard L.
